Job Shadowing with Lydia

Lydia and Scott discuss testingThe Gravity Works team spent last Wednesday with Lydia, a high school sophomore, talking about mobile and web design and development.

Lydia is most interested in graphic design, and she sat with both Lauren and Heather as they worked on various client projects. In addition to working with CSS and HTML, we recommended design books such as About Face: The Essentials of Interaction Design (an important book for interaction design students at nearby Michigan State University).

At lunch, we discussed the mobile applications and community events (from GLUGnet to CodeMash) that we're excited about. She studies art as well as programming, both at school and with her father, so she also sat with developers to talk about testing, technologies, and the business of development. It was a great opportunity to remember the excitement of learning to design and develop, and a chance to focus on the constant, ongoing education that keeps our team on the cutting edge.

A big thank you goes out to Lydia, and we can't wait to see what she creates next!
