Information Architecture
A website provides information to rushed, multi-tasking people, who all have different expectations and needs. Navigation must accommodate people: be clear to browse services, simple to purchase products, or encourage volunteers to sign up.
Gravity Works reviews existing text and photos, client organizational needs, and the needs of the intended audience. We construct an intuitive site map, then use page layout and design standards, so people quickly find what they need and hear what our clients are saying.
Usability & Accessibility
Usability standards focus the design of every element on the user, from board member to intern to potential client. Usable features do what is expected, and enable the painless correction of user misunderstandings or mistakes
Every audience is diverse, so Gravity Works builds accessible websites that reach more people.
A screen reader gives an audio description of web pages to low-vision users; well-structured, properly-tagged content can turn "Read more" into the audio description "Read more about 2012 tax code" for screen reading software. Users who cannot control a mouse, turning instead to keyboard navigation, cannot select submenu items that appear on many websites when a mouse hovers over main menu items. Accessible code helps people find and view entire websites, reaching the entire message of an organization.
